Questions, Answered
Everything you need to know about how the calculator works and what the numbers mean.
How accurate is this calculator?
Our calculator uses the validated MET formula: Calories = MET × 3.5 × weight(kg) / 200 × minutes. It's the same model used in published exercise science research, giving estimates within ±10% of measured values.
How many calories does a 30-minute walk burn?
A typical 70 kg adult walking at 3.5 mph for 30 minutes burns around 150–180 calories. Faster pace, more incline, or higher body weight all increase the burn.
Is walking enough to lose weight?
Yes — consistent walking creates a sustainable calorie deficit. Walking 45 minutes daily at a brisk pace can burn 1,500+ calories per week, supporting healthy, lasting weight loss.
